While Kownacki was the heavy favorite, Helenius pulled off a significant upset by stopping Kownacki in the fourth round winning the vacant WBA Gold heavyweight title in the process.

The victory lined up Helenius as the mandatory challenger for titlist Anthony Joshua. Born in Stockholm, Sweden, Helenius lived in Sweden until the age of two.
